Installation
Fresh installation using Fedora 13 live usb works.

Desktop Environment
I have tried Gnome, Gnome shell, Compiz fusion and sugar on my laptop everything works well.
Sound
Sound works by default.
VLC
Vlc 1.0.6 crashed initially , ran vlc using ‘MALLOC_CHECK=1 vlc’ to rectify the problem.
Wired network
Fedora uses r8169 module and it works
Wireless
Wireless won’t work by default, need to install kmod-wl package from rpmfusion non free repository.
Touchpad
Works fine. Tapping is not enabled by default, enable it by visiting System->Preferences->Mouse->Touchpad
Webcam
Webcam works. Clicked some pictures with cheese.
Bluetooth
Works. Transferred some files to my mobile.
Multimedia keys
Multimedia keys response is poor. (Play, pause,next,previous,stop,volume buttons ) I don’t know whether its the fault of my machine, because i can increase the volume with ease but cannot reduce it.

Multimedia keys do work by default on my Vaio and they seem to work also on several Toshiba’s I’ve installed.
oh really? it must be a problem with the keyboard itself. I will call dell customer support then.
Have tried an external monitor ?
I have a Vostro 3300 and external monitors are fuzzy with this laptop. Have you got the same problem ?
No, i haven’t tried connecting an external monitors. I will check this when i have a chance.

No, i haven’t tried, will test it with some other distro’s live cd.
I installed it on my Vostro 3500 and couldn’t figure out which package to install to get wireless working. Thanks for the info.
My multimedia keys worked fine, at least for what I’ve tested. Sound volume up and down are fine for me too.
About external monitors (if it really matches this category…), I’ve plugged it to a projector today and it worked out of the box, no configuration needed, no xrandr, nothing. It’s the first time I recall having this working so easily on linux.
Nice. I will have to call dell for my multimedia keys it seems 😐 .
Just as a follow-up, I installed VLC and it didn’t crash. It doesn’t recognize the multimedia keys though. Totem handles them correctly, but in VLC I can’t even use them as shortcut keys. When running xev, pressing them generates KeymapNotify events, VLC could be listening only for KeyPress, I’m too lazy to check :p

I have installed suse 11.3, and yet to configure the repositories. The Wi-fi module is not yet detected.Is their any rpm for suse 11.3,

You must install kmod-wl package to make it work. It is a non free driver, that should be available in separate repositories, please consider asking /searching in Suse forums.
Hello, the Wi-fi module is enabled.
The driver can be installed by loading the packman repo.
Can someone please post their xconfig.conf? I was trying to get the dual monitors to work and now am stuck with blank screens.
I do not use dual monitors but system->preferences->monitors might help you!

It would be very helpful, in my case I luckily came to this page (Arun’s blog) because I want to buy it and be informed about its Fedora compatibility. I sincerely ask for someone to do this (if almost all works, then it should be easy to do!).
